Severance package questions if the worst happens?

Okay, trying not to panic here, but the rumors are getting louder. I'm in Sales, been here 8 years. We haven't had any official word, but the general feeling is that something's coming down the pike. I've never been through a layoff before, and frankly, it's a little terrifying. If it does happen, what kind of severance should people expect at McCormick? Do they typically offer COBRA subsidies? What about outplacement services? If anyone has gone through this here before, or knows someone who has, any insight would be super helpful. Trying to get a realistic picture of what support we might get if our roles are eliminated. This feels like a good time to be prepared.

Hey, I know the rumors are unsettling, especially when you've put in 8 years. Try to focus on what you can control right now. Keep documenting your achievements and network within your department and beyond. Even if layoffs happen, having a strong internal network can sometimes open doors to other opportunities within the company if there are internal transfers. As for severance, it's hard to say without official word, but often companies do offer some form of COBRA subsidy and outplacement services to help ease the transition. Stay proactive and prepare your resume regardless.

Honestly, the rumor mill at McCormick has been churning for years about *something*. Don't let the 'what ifs' paralyze you. If you're concerned, start updating your resume and LinkedIn profile now. It takes time to do it well. I've heard mixed things about past layoffs here – some were pretty standard, others less so. Cobra subsidies are pretty common practice these days to keep people on board and reduce liability, but outplacement services can vary wildly in quality. Just be prepared for anything and focus on your next move, whatever that may be.
