Hiring freeze confirmed? My team's requisitions are all stalled.

Tried to get a new req approved for my team to backfill a role that's been open for 3 months. Got a flat 'no' from HR with no explanation, just that all hiring is on hold effective immediately. Checked with a few friends in other departments, and it sounds like the same story everywhere. No one's officially announced anything, but this feels like the classic pre-layoff hiring freeze. Anyone else getting this same runaround when trying to hire? Seems like the office closures weren't just a temporary thing.

Yeah, I've heard whispers about this too. My manager mentioned that approvals are taking forever and some roles are just being put on the back burner. It's definitely frustrating when you're trying to build out a team or even just fill critical gaps. Hopefully, there's a clear communication coming soon about what the plan is, because this uncertainty isn't great for morale or productivity.

That sounds exactly like what's happening on my end. We had a couple of key positions we were trying to fill, and suddenly everything just stopped. No one seems to know why, or when things will open up again. It's tough when you're understaffed and can't get the support you need. Kind of makes you wonder what the long-term strategy is if they're freezing hiring like this.
