Is anyone actually safe, or is this just cost-cutting across the board?

With the Oregon layoffs last week and now this PA update, it really feels like McKesson is trimming fat everywhere. I know healthcare is supposed to be 'recession-proof' or whatever, but leadership seems hell-bent on hitting these margin targets regardless of how many teams they gut. I’m in a support role and I feel like I’m constantly looking over my shoulder during every All-Hands meeting. Does anyone have a pulse on which divisions they are targeting next? It feels like no one is safe, from logistics to corporate. I'm burnt out from the anxiety alone, honestly. Thinking about jumping ship before the inevitable, but the market is so weird right now. Anyone else feeling the pressure?

I’ve been with the company for over five years, and the atmosphere has shifted dramatically. It’s no longer about long-term stability or investing in our teams; it’s strictly a numbers game now. The focus on margin expansion is aggressive, and leadership is clearly prioritizing shareholders over institutional knowledge. If your department doesn’t show immediate, high-margin results, you’re on the chopping block. Keep your resume updated and your networking active, because the current strategy suggests that these headcount reductions are far from over.

Stop looking for a pattern, because there isn't one. When they decide to trim, they go after whatever has the lowest barrier to entry. I’ve seen departments with decent performance gutted just because they were labeled as 'non-core' or 'redundant' by consultants who have never stepped foot in our offices. It’s an exhausting way to work, but trying to guess where the axe falls next is a waste of energy. Just focus on your own exit strategy and stop waiting for transparency from management that clearly doesn't value retention.
