Anyone else seeing projects getting iced?

It’s getting frustrating. I’ve had two separate projects get 'indefinitely paused' in the last month despite being halfway through the development cycle. Leadership keeps talking about focusing on core pillars, but it feels like the internal support structure is just evaporating. I’ve noticed a lot of back-and-forth about contractor renewals as well—seems like they’re trying to purge the non-full-time staff before making any larger moves. It’s impossible to get a straight answer from HR or management. They just keep telling us to stay focused and hit our metrics, but the morale in my department is hitting rock bottom. I’m just trying to figure out if this is specific to my business unit or if the broader org is going through a similar squeeze. Don't want to be the last person to know when the ship starts taking on water.

Same here. I’ve watched three initiatives get shelved since the quarter started. It’s definitely not just you. The constant pivoting to 'core pillars' has become the standard corporate excuse for lack of direction. It feels like they’re just burning through the development budget to clean up the balance sheet before the fiscal year ends. Nobody in middle management seems to know what's coming next, which is the most unsettling part of the whole experience.

It is exhausting to watch. I’ve lost two contractors on my team this week alone, and the uncertainty makes it impossible to maintain any real momentum. Everyone is just waiting for the other shoe to drop at this point. If leadership isn't going to be transparent about the hiring freeze or the project cuts, they should at least stop acting like it’s business as usual. The morale hit is getting bad, and people are starting to polish their resumes.
