Medtronic - Performance calibrations feel more aggressive lately?

Is it just me or have performance review calibrations become way more intense recently? I've heard from multiple colleagues across different divisions that the 'meets expectations' bar seems to have moved significantly higher. There's more scrutiny on individual contributions and less emphasis on team successes. It's making people really anxious about their ratings, and frankly, it feels like a subtle way to manage headcount without explicitly saying so. The usual year-end feedback feels more like a potential exit strategy discussion this time around. Anyone else picking up on this vibe?

I've definitely noticed a shift too. The 'exceeds' threshold feels like it's been raised considerably, and 'meets' is now a real challenge. It's not just the metrics; the qualitative feedback seems to be much harsher as well. It's creating a lot of stress, and I'm hearing similar comments from people in various departments. The overall mood feels more competitive and less collaborative than it used to be, which is concerning for morale. Seems like everyone's on edge about their year-end reviews. Hope things ease up, but I'm not holding my breath.

It’s not just you. My team has been discussing this extensively. The perception is that the calibration process is much tighter, and the language around 'meeting expectations' has become extremely specific, almost setting an unreasonably high standard. There's a sense that individual performance is being dissected more aggressively, with less room for interpretation or leniency. It feels like a deliberate tightening of the belt across the board, impacting how people are feeling about their job security and future prospects here.
