Medtronic: Any department feeling the squeeze lately?

Hey everyone, been lurking here for a bit and seeing similar chatter across different companies. At Medtronic, I haven't heard any official announcements or anything concrete, but things have felt... tighter? My team's budget for external training got slashed, and a few 'nice-to-have' projects we were planning for Q3/Q4 are now 'non-essential'. It's probably nothing, but the vibe feels a bit off. Anyone else in different divisions noticing similar budget constraints or slowdowns? Just trying to gauge if this is a company-wide thing or if I'm just in a department that's getting squeezed. Curious to hear what others are seeing.

Totally feel this. My department has definitely seen some belt-tightening. We had a few roles open up that they've decided not to fill for now, and some travel approvals are way stricter than they used to be. It's not a full lockdown, but you can tell there's more scrutiny on spending. My manager alluded to 'economic headwinds' without getting specific. Curious to see if it's widespread or just certain areas.

Yeah, 'tighter' is a good word for it. We haven't had outright cuts, but there's a definite sense of 'do more with less.' New equipment requests are getting a longer look, and the usual Q4 budget bumps for team events or office improvements seem to have vanished. It's making it harder to plan, and honestly, a bit demoralizing when you feel like you're constantly justifying every little expense. Hope it's just a temporary thing.
