Medtronic: Layoff Rumors Starting to Swirl?

Hey all, been working at Medtronic for a few years now in R&D. Lately, there's been a lot of chatter amongst colleagues about potential restructuring or even layoffs. Nothing official from leadership, of course, but the whispers are getting louder. We've seen some senior folks leave abruptly, and there's a general sense of unease about upcoming fiscal year budgets. Has anyone else heard anything concrete or experienced anything similar in their departments? Just trying to get a pulse on the situation before things potentially get dicey. Curious if this is company-wide or specific to certain divisions. Trying not to panic, but also want to be prepared. What are your thoughts?

Yeah, I've picked up on some of that too, though I'm in a different division. Upper management has been pretty tight-lipped, which only fuels the speculation. It's tough when you feel like your job security is uncertain, especially when you've dedicated years to a company. Hoping it's just standard end-of-year budget talks and not something more serious, but that unease is definitely palpable across the board.

It's definitely a tense atmosphere right now. I'm in supply chain, and while we haven't had direct confirmation of layoffs, there's been a noticeable freeze on hiring for non-essential roles. We're also seeing increased scrutiny on project spending and a push for greater efficiency. People are understandably anxious, and it's hard to ignore the signs when they're all pointing in the same direction. Let's hope for transparency soon.
