I'm seeing something similar within my department. It feels like we're all being asked to do more with less, and the justification for any spending, even for things that directly support our work, is being questioned more rigorously than usual. It's definitely a shift in the air, and while I understand the need for fiscal responsibility, the suddenness and pervasiveness of it are a bit concerning. Hoping there's a clear strategic reason behind it all.
Interesting to hear this isn't just a localized issue. My team has also noticed a significant increase in the level of scrutiny for even minor expenditures. We've had to push back on requests for new equipment that previously would have been approved without a second thought. It's creating some friction, and frankly, it's making it harder to operate efficiently. Let's hope this is a temporary phase and not indicative of larger challenges ahead.
