Hiring pace at Merck seems way off lately

Been trying to fill a couple of open roles on my team for months now, and the hiring process at Merck feels like it's grinding to a halt. Requisitions are stuck in review hell, candidates are ghosted after initial interviews, and even internal transfers seem to be stalled. It's way different from the usual pace here. We're understaffed and it's impacting deliverables. Management keeps talking about growth and innovation, but the hiring reality on the ground doesn't match. Is anyone else experiencing this? Or is this just my department/site? Wondering if it's a sign of leadership reassessing headcount or if there's another reason for this slowdown. Definitely makes me question the long-term stability.

I've noticed a similar slowdown on my end. It feels like there's a bottleneck somewhere in the HR or approvals process. The communication has been pretty sparse, which only adds to the frustration when you're trying to get good candidates on board and keep projects moving. It's definitely a stark contrast to how things were even a year or two ago. Hope it picks up soon.

Completely agree. It's becoming a real challenge to attract and retain talent when the hiring process is this sluggish. We're losing out on potentially great hires because they've moved on to quicker opportunities. It's putting a lot of strain on existing teams and affecting morale. Management needs to address this disconnect between stated goals and the practical realities of recruitment.
