Merck's project pipeline feels a bit stagnant lately. Thoughts?

Hey everyone, been at Merck for a few years now, and lately, the vibe on the ground feels… different. Not in a good way. A lot of the big projects I was excited about seem to be dragging, or maybe just not getting the traction they used to. Even internal job postings feel a bit sparse, and the ones that are there are often for roles that feel like they're backfilling or consolidating. Is anyone else picking up on this? It's not just my department; I've chatted with folks in R&D, manufacturing, and even some of the commercial teams, and they echo a similar sentiment of things being slower than usual. Makes you wonder about resource allocation or maybe just a general strategic shift. Curious to hear if others are seeing similar patterns or have any insights into what might be driving this. Just trying to get a pulse on the overall health of the company beyond the official announcements.

I've noticed a similar sentiment. It feels like a lot of the innovation focus has shifted towards maintaining existing blockbusters rather than developing the next big thing. While stability is important, the lack of truly groundbreaking new candidates is a concern for long-term growth. Hopefully, some of the earlier-stage research will bear fruit soon.
