Just checking in to see if any of my colleagues impacted by the May 16th layoffs in Montour are willing to share what the severance terms are looking like this time around. I know the company likes to keep these things under wraps, but knowing what to expect is the only thing keeping me sane right now. Are they offering the standard weeks-per-year-of-service, or did they tighten the belt on those benefits too? It’s gut-wrenching to see so many talented people get shown the door while the stock price is still holding up decent. If you were affected, please let us know if they are providing any career transition support or if it’s just the bare minimum cash payout. For those of us still hanging on, it really helps to understand the 'worst case' scenario so we can prepare our finances accordingly. Good luck to everyone currently in the job hunt, this market is brutal right now.

I was impacted by a similar reduction a few years back, and I can tell you that the formula hasn't shifted much. They generally stick to the standard weeks-per-year-of-service model, though there is usually a cap involved that catches some long-term employees off guard. Make sure you check your individual packet carefully for the non-compete clauses, as those were surprisingly restrictive in my experience. It’s a bitter pill to swallow, but focus on the outplacement services—sometimes those actually provide decent networking leads if you dig deep enough into the portal.

Honestly, the lack of transparency is the most frustrating part of the whole process. I have friends in different departments who have been through this, and the packages seem to vary based on internal grade levels more than anything else. Don’t just accept the first document they hand you; sometimes you can negotiate the payout if you have pending equity or specific tenure considerations. Keep your head up and reach out to the others impacted—sharing information is the only leverage you have right now while they try to push people out quietly.
