Just saw the news about the 8000 cuts at Meta on July 17th. That's a huge number. I'm trying to figure out if there's a pattern, or if it's just across the board. Feels like no one is safe anymore. Anyone hear anything about which divisions or roles were most affected? I've got friends there and the uncertainty is killing me. Heard it's hitting engineering pretty hard, especially in areas that aren't directly tied to core product development or monetization. Rumors suggest some AI initiatives might be getting consolidated too, which would explain the focus on certain teams.
