Another massive layoff at Meta, 8000 this time. The official line seems to be restructuring and focusing on investments, particularly in artificial intelligence. It’s hard to reconcile losing so many colleagues with the company continuing to pour resources into new tech, especially AI. Saw some articles mentioning that the funds are being redirected to AI infrastructure and hiring top talent in that field. It makes you wonder if this is just the beginning, and how many more rounds are coming as they continue this pivot. Did anyone here who was impacted in this latest wave get a clear explanation beyond the generic corporate speak? It’s tough to see so many talented people let go while the company doubles down on a specific area. Feels like a lot of uncertainty for everyone still here, too.

It's definitely a tough situation for everyone impacted. Seeing such significant job losses while the company talks about future investments is jarring. It feels like a disconnect between the immediate reality for so many employees and the company's long-term strategic vision. Hoping for transparency and support for those leaving.
