Okay, so I'm seeing a lot of chatter and actual lawsuits coming out about Meta allegedly using some sort of automated system, or whatever you want to call it, to decide who gets laid off. The reports suggest it might have flagged people based on things like taking medical leave or parental leave. This is wild if true. It feels incredibly impersonal and potentially discriminatory. Makes you wonder how much of these decisions are actually data-driven without human oversight or empathy. Anyone have firsthand experience or know someone who's been affected by this specific aspect? Curious to hear real stories if anyone is willing to share. This feels like a dark turn for how companies handle workforce reductions.

This is seriously concerning. If companies are using algorithms to make life-altering decisions like layoffs, especially by flagging protected leave, it's a massive ethical failure. It strips away any semblance of human judgment and can easily perpetuate or even create bias. The lack of transparency around these systems is a huge red flag. I hope these lawsuits bring some accountability and force companies to be more responsible with how they implement such technologies.
