Blindsided by the 8k cuts, and the WFH emails?

Just saw the news about another 8000 jobs cut at Meta on July 17th. Honestly, it feels like a gut punch. I was one of the people who got the email, and it was incredibly sudden. The weirdest part, and I'm wondering if anyone else experienced this, was getting that notification to work from home right before the layoff emails started dropping. It felt like they were deliberately trying to isolate us or make the announcement easier to deliver remotely. No warning, no hints. Just... gone. The official reason seems to be more investment in AI, which is just wild considering the lawsuits alleging discriminatory practices using algorithms in previous cuts. Anyone else feel completely blindsided and frankly, a bit manipulated by the whole WFH directive just before the axe fell?

That's absolutely brutal. Being laid off is bad enough, but the WFH email right before? That's cold. It sounds like a really disorganized and frankly, dehumanizing way to handle such massive cuts. Makes you wonder about the internal communication and planning. Hope you're doing okay and have some support systems in place.

I can only imagine how shocking that must have been. Getting that remote work directive followed by layoff news would be incredibly disorienting. It does seem like a strange way to manage the situation, almost like they wanted to avoid facing people directly. Wishing you the best as you navigate this.
