Lawsuit claims about AI selecting people - is this real?

Seeing a lot of chatter and now actual lawsuits claiming that Meta used automated systems to pick who got laid off, and that it might have targeted people who were on leave or had medical conditions. I mean, it's one thing to have layoffs, we all kind of expected it with the scale of cuts. But the idea that a program, not a person, made those calls, and based on potentially sensitive data? That feels next-level wrong. It makes you wonder about the process and if there was any human oversight at all. Has anyone in the legal or HR space seen anything like this before? Trying to understand the implications and if this is just a tactic or if there's real substance to these claims. Feels pretty dystopian if true.
