Lawsuits about AI and discrimination in layoffs - what's the real deal?

0x52c1…6a4fSo the latest layoff round at Meta is happening, another 8000 people. But what's really sticking with me are those lawsuits that have been popping up. The claims are pretty serious – that Meta might have used algorithms to identify employees for layoffs, and that these systems could have been biased against people on medical leave or parental leave. It's really unsettling to think that our careers could be decided by lines of code that might not even be fair. Has anyone here worked with or seen any internal processes that made you question the fairness of layoff decisions? It makes you wonder if the recent cuts are also going to face similar scrutiny, or if this is just how companies are moving forward now – using tech to make tough calls, regardless of the human impact.
