Lawsuits allege biased selections in recent cuts. Anyone got the inside scoop?

Reading all these articles about lawsuits claiming Meta used automated systems, potentially with biased data, to select people for the recent layoffs. It's pretty concerning if true. I know a few people who were let go, and it felt really sudden and arbitrary, but I never really considered the selection process itself might be flawed. They're talking about systems potentially flagging people who took medical leave or parental leave. That's a whole other level of messed up if it's accurate. Has anyone heard anything more specific from inside, or have any anecdotal evidence that supports these claims? It's one thing to have layoffs, but to have them be potentially discriminatory due to faulty or biased automated decision-making is a whole different ballgame. Makes you wonder if the 'performance review' was just a front for an algorithm.

Wow, that's a serious accusation if those lawsuits have merit. The idea of automated systems potentially discriminating against people for taking necessary time off like medical or parental leave is pretty chilling. It really makes you wonder about the transparency and fairness of these large-scale corporate decisions, especially when so many livelihoods are on the line. Hope there's a thorough investigation into this.
