Lawsuits are wild - truly believe they used algo for selections?

0x532e…653dReading these lawsuits about the company using some kind of automated system to flag people for layoffs, especially those who took medical leave or parental leave, is pretty disturbing. It's one thing to have layoffs, but to think that decisions about people's livelihoods could be based on algorithms that might have built-in biases? That's a whole other level of messed up. I've always wondered about the criteria, but the idea that it was less about performance and more about data points like leave status is alarming. Anyone else feel like this lawsuit has legs, or is it just noise? Makes you wonder about the transparency (or lack thereof) in these decisions.
