WFH before the axe fell? Anyone else feel blindsided?

Just saw the news about the 8k cuts. I'm still trying to process it. What's really rattling me though is the mention in one of the articles about people being asked to WFH right before the layoff emails started hitting at 4 AM. That feels incredibly deliberate and, honestly, pretty messed up. Like they wanted to minimize any immediate reaction or immediate support from colleagues. Did anyone else experience this? Were you told to work from home unexpectedly? It makes the whole thing feel so much colder and more calculated. I'm still in shock, and this detail just adds insult to injury. Feels like a massive betrayal of trust.

Yeah, that detail about being told to WFH right before the layoffs hit is wild. It definitely adds a layer of calculated coldness to an already brutal situation. Makes you wonder about the timing and if it was intentional to isolate people. Having your colleagues right there, even virtually, can make a huge difference when you're getting that kind of news. It's a tough way to go out.

I didn't experience that personally, but I can see how that would feel incredibly isolating and dehumanizing. Being asked to log in from home just before getting that email at 4 AM seems designed to prevent any sense of community or support from your team during such a shock. It strips away any semblance of a human element from a business decision. Really sorry to anyone who went through that.
