Anyone else getting weird vibes from the new 'restructuring' training?

Has anyone else been forced to take those mandatory 'Adapting to Organizational Change' modules this week? It feels incredibly suspicious. They keep pushing this narrative about 'streamlining workflows' and 'removing redundant layers,' which is corporate-speak for letting people go. I’ve been here for five years and I’ve seen this pattern before. They start with the training, then they start locking down project budgets, and then the invites for 'all-hands' meetings start appearing on the calendar at 4 PM on a Friday. My team has been told to 'document all daily tasks' for an audit, which makes me think they’re trying to figure out which roles to consolidate. Honestly, the morale in my group is hitting rock bottom. If they’re planning something, I just wish they’d rip the band-aid off instead of making us sit through these patronizing slideshows about staying 'agile.' Is anybody else feeling this, or am I just being paranoid?

I've been through two rounds of this exact script at MetLife already. You’re not being paranoid; this is the classic playbook they use before a major headcount reduction. When they start using buzzwords like 'optimizing operational efficiency' and 'realigning resources,' it is almost always a precursor to pink slips. If you have been here a while, you know the signs. Start updating your resume this weekend and make sure you have copies of your performance reviews saved off the internal server. Trust your gut on this one.

Honestly, I think everyone is reading way too much into some standard corporate HR modules. These trainings happen every year to satisfy compliance and keep processes from becoming stagnant. It’s a massive insurance company; they have to adjust to market shifts periodically, and that doesn't automatically mean layoffs are imminent. People get so anxious over nothing. Try to focus on your actual workload instead of playing detective with every email from leadership. It’s just business as usual, not some elaborate conspiracy to clear out the office.
