Management going silent—is it just me?

Is anyone else noticing the complete lack of communication from leadership lately? We usually have these 'town halls' or pulse check emails every couple of weeks, but it's been radio silence for over a month now. My manager keeps dodging questions about Q4 resource planning and everything feels weirdly tense during our 1:1s. Every time I bring up the project roadmap for next year, I get a vague 'we’re focusing on core efficiency' answer. It feels like the calm before a storm. I’ve been looking at the internal job board and it’s mostly skeleton roles now. Thinking about polishing up the resume just in case, but I’m curious if anyone in other departments is seeing the same weird behavior.

I've noticed the same pattern. Ever since the last leadership shift, the town halls have become these weird, scripted sessions where they avoid any actual numbers. When they start throwing around 'core efficiency' buzzwords, it’s usually code for headcount reduction or a major budget freeze. My advice? Don't wait for them to be transparent. Start documenting your contributions now and update your resume. If your manager is dodging 1:1 questions, it’s almost certainly because they’ve been instructed to keep quiet until the official announcement drops. Trust your gut—the tension you're feeling is valid.

Honestly, it’s been the same story across my department too. The lack of clarity regarding Q4 and the upcoming roadmap is incredibly draining. It feels like they’re keeping us in the dark to prevent people from jumping ship before year-end bonuses are locked in. I wouldn't panic yet, but I would definitely start discreetly testing the job market. When communication drops off this abruptly, it’s rarely a good sign for the rank and file. Keep your head down, do your work, but definitely prioritize your own career safety over whatever 'efficiency' project they’re cooking up.
