Feeling uneasy after the May 21st Santa Ana news

Honestly, the vibe in the office has been absolutely dead since the news about the 34 layoffs dropped. It’s hard to stay focused when you’re constantly looking over your shoulder wondering if your desk is next on the list. I know 34 people doesn't sound like a massive number compared to the thousands MGM employs, but it’s the quiet nature of these cuts that’s getting to me. No town halls, no clear communication, just a WARN notice and then people missing from Slack by Tuesday morning. Is anyone else feeling like the transparency here is at an all-time low? I’ve been putting in extra hours trying to make myself indispensable, but deep down I know that doesn't really matter when leadership decides they need to trim the budget to hit a quarterly target. Thinking it might be time to start polishing the resume and seeing what else is out there, even if the hospitality sector feels pretty shaky right now. Anyone else planning an exit strategy?

I’ve been through a few rounds of these quiet layoffs at MGM before, and it never gets any easier. The silence from management is honestly the worst part; it just breeds paranoia across the entire floor. You’re right that 34 people seems small on paper, but when you see empty chairs and suddenly lose access to teammates, it completely kills the morale. Try to keep your head down and focus on your actual work, but definitely keep your resume updated in the background. It's just business, unfortunately, not personal.

Stop looking over your shoulder. If you spend every day stressed about a potential WARN notice, you’re just going to burn yourself out before anything even happens. MGM is a massive corporate machine, and these types of restructurings are unfortunately part of the cycle when they need to adjust margins. If you’re worried, just network quietly and see what else is out there, but don't let the office atmosphere dictate your mental health. Most of the people left behind are just as nervous as you, so just keep pushing through.
