I’ve been tracking the trends across the Strip, and honestly, MGM has turned into a revolving door. When they start preaching about 'operational efficiency' every single quarter, it’s just corporate code for headcount reduction. I worked there for five years and left right before the last big round of cuts because I could see the writing on the wall. If you’re waiting for things to stabilize, you’re likely just wasting your time. It’s better to update your resume and look for a property that values long-term talent rather than one treating humans like disposable expenses.
It’s definitely a rough patch, but people seem to forget that the gaming industry is notoriously cyclical. MGM is pushing hard on automation and consolidation to keep shareholders happy in a tough market. While it feels chaotic right now, they usually keep the essential staff who keep the floor running smoothly. If you're in a front-facing role or specialized tech, you're probably safer than the administrative bloat they are currently trimming. Keep your head down and focus on being indispensable, but it never hurts to keep your LinkedIn active just in case.
