Anyone else feeling completely blindsided by this July 2nd news?

Just saw the Fox Business report about the 5000 layoffs. Honestly, I thought things were stabilizing. My team hasn't had any major reorgs in months, and we were actually hiring for a few critical roles. Now I'm just sitting here wondering if my specific group is on the chopping block. I've been in the same division for 7 years, working on enterprise solutions, and this just feels like a punch to the gut. My manager has been quiet, and usually, we get some heads-up or at least rumors if something this big is coming down the pipeline. Has anyone heard anything more concrete, even whispers? Trying not to spiral, but it's hard.

I hear you. That news definitely came out of left field. It's completely understandable to feel that anxiety when layoffs hit, especially after a period of perceived stability. Try to focus on the work you're doing and what you can control. Hopefully, your manager will provide some clarity soon. Hang in there, it's a tough situation for everyone.

Yeah, the silence from management is the worst part. It fuels the speculation and makes you imagine the worst. While it's easy to panic, remember that sometimes these cuts are strategic and might not directly impact every single team, even if it feels that way. Keep an eye out for any official communications, but don't let the uncertainty consume you. Maybe start casually updating your resume, just in case.
