Same situation here at the Redmond campus. The atmosphere is incredibly heavy and management is acting like nothing happened, which is honestly the most insulting part. I watched three of my teammates lose access to their accounts while we were in a meeting, and nobody had the guts to say a word. It’s disgusting how they treat people who dedicated a decade of their lives to this place. Just keep your head down and start updating your resume, because the loyalty here is officially dead.
I understand the frustration, but these large-scale shifts are unfortunately how the company has operated for years now. It is definitely unnerving to see the office so empty, but the lack of direct communication is standard corporate protocol to limit liability during layoffs. Focus on your own security right now rather than waiting for leadership to explain the headcount reductions. If you have been there for a long time, use your network outside of the office to find your next move before the uncertainty starts to affect your mental health.
