Did anyone actually get *more* than the standard severance for the July 2nd layoffs?

So the news hit, and now everyone's talking about the packages. I know the standard offer is usually X weeks per year of service, plus continuation of benefits. But with these larger rounds, sometimes there's room for negotiation, or maybe different tiers based on role or tenure. I'm in a senior individual contributor role, almost 10 years at MS. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth pushing back on the initial offer if/when it comes. Has anyone had experience pushing for more in similar situations? What did you focus on? Any specific clauses in the agreement you found leverage with? Just trying to get a sense of what's realistic before I even get the official word.

Hang in there. It's a tough situation, and totally understandable to want to maximize what you can get, especially with a decade of service. While I haven't personally negotiated beyond the standard at MS, I've heard stories from other tech layoffs where senior folks in critical roles managed to get a bit more, often by highlighting specific project contributions or market value. Focus on what makes you unique and valuable to them, even as you're leaving. Good luck!

Honestly, I wouldn't get your hopes too high. MS usually has pretty set formulas for these things, and they've likely run the numbers to be as efficient as possible. Pushing too hard might just burn bridges for absolutely no gain. If they offer the standard, that's probably what most people are getting unless there's a really exceptional reason. It might be better to focus on leveraging your network for the next opportunity rather than fighting for an extra few thousand.
