Seriously, how are people *already* interviewing?

Layoffs hit my team last Tuesday. About 15% of us were cut. Senior PM, been here 5 years. And I'm seeing people on Blind already posting about getting second interviews at Google/Amazon/Meta. How??? I'm still trying to process everything, figure out my finances, update my resume with the actual project impact, and you guys are already acing technical screens? Am I doing something wrong? Should I be networking like crazy right now? I feel so behind. It's like everyone else is prepared for this exact moment, and I was just blindsided. Any advice for someone feeling completely overwhelmed and not job-ready?

Man, that's rough. It's totally understandable to feel blindsided and overwhelmed right now. Don't compare your processing time to others' outward appearances. Some people might have been job hunting for months before the layoff, or maybe their network is just incredibly proactive. Focus on one step at a time – getting your finances sorted and updating that resume are crucial. Networking is always good, but don't force it if you're not ready. Be kind to yourself.

Honestly, some of those 'just got laid off and interviewing' posts are probably exaggerating or have been secretly interviewing for a while. It's easy to get caught up in the panic and comparison game. Take the time you need to decompress and polish your resume. When you're ready, start reaching out to people you know or admire. A targeted approach, focusing on companies and roles that genuinely interest you, will be more effective than frantic, unfocused networking. You've got this.
