It’s official. Just got the email notification this morning and it’s a gut punch. The WARN notice was accurate—268 people in the Richmond hub are getting the axe effective June 30th. I’ve been here for three years and honestly, the mood in the office has been a funeral march for weeks, but seeing the numbers in black and white hits differently. HR is trying to spin this as a 'strategic realignment,' but let’s be real, it’s just the usual corporate cost-cutting measures to satisfy the shareholders before the quarter ends. They promised transition assistance and severance, but the vague details in the packet aren't exactly comforting. For those of you who weren't on the list, keep your resumes polished. This feels like the first wave of something much larger, not the end of it. To everyone affected, I’m sorry. Does anyone have any leads on recruiters focusing on healthcare admin in the area? I’m going to start hitting the market immediately.

I am so sorry to hear this. I went through a similar layoff at another healthcare company a few years back, and that 'strategic realignment' jargon is always just a cold way to mask the human cost. Take some time to process the shock, update your resume, and reach out to your network as soon as you are ready. You are more than a line item on a balance sheet, and I truly hope you find something much better soon.

It is honestly disgusting how they handle these notifications. They keep us in the dark with rumors for weeks, tanking morale, only to drop the hammer with a sanitized corporate email that completely ignores the actual people being impacted. The Richmond hub has been a pillar for the team, and seeing them gut it like this just to keep the stock price moving is exactly why nobody trusts upper management anymore. Stay strong and look out for one another.
