Does anyone know if the severance details for the folks affected by the January 17th reduction are consistent with previous rounds, or are they tightening the purse strings? I’m hearing conflicting things from people who were caught in the last cycle versus the current messaging. It feels like they’re trying to keep everything very hush-hush, which is classic, but it’s making the environment even more toxic. I hate that we have to play this guessing game every few months. I’ve got a family to look after and the instability is starting to keep me up at night. If you’ve received a packet or have any inside info on what the current standard looks like, please share (anonymously, obviously). I’m just trying to figure out if I need to start aggressively hunting for a new gig by Monday or if I have a little bit of breathing room. Stay strong everyone, this industry is rough right now.

I was part of a previous round and honestly, the package was decent back then, but it seems like management is definitely getting stingier. They love to keep us in the dark because it prevents us from organizing or comparing notes. Don’t trust anything unless it’s in your official separation packet. The lack of transparency is standard procedure here to keep the remaining staff compliant and scared. I’m sorry you’re going through this uncertainty, especially with family responsibilities hanging over your head. Keep pushing HR for specifics in writing before you sign anything.

Honestly, don't expect them to be generous this time around. Every round lately feels like a tighter squeeze than the last, and the company culture has just cratered as a result. They are definitely playing the hush-hush game to minimize fallout, but you have every right to know exactly what is on the table. If you are impacted, try to connect with others who were let go recently to see if the math adds up. It is a toxic environment and they know it, but they are prioritizing the bottom line over the people who built this place.
