Anyone else getting 'do more with less' vibes?

Is it just me, or has the workload hit an absolutely unsustainable level lately? Since the latest news dropped, the managers are acting like nothing happened, but the team size in my department is effectively down by two. We’re being told to hit the same productivity targets with even fewer resources. It’s the classic CPG trap—slashing headcount to inflate the margin for the next earnings call while the rest of us drown in the manual work left behind by the people who were let go. I'm honestly starting to check the job boards during my lunch hour because this doesn't feel sustainable for the long haul. Anyone else hearing about 'efficiency initiatives' that are really just code for more silent layoffs? Feels like we're all just waiting for the next round of shoes to drop.

It is the standard playbook at this point. They strip the operation down to the bone to make the quarterly numbers look pretty for Wall Street, completely ignoring the fact that the actual work still needs to get done. My department has been cycling through the same burnout loop for years. You’re definitely not alone in seeing this; it’s a systematic squeeze that leaves everyone holding the bag while leadership pats themselves on the back for 'operational efficiency.' Just keep your head down and look for an exit before you burn out completely.

The 'do more with less' mantra is practically baked into the culture now. It’s frustrating because we all know the targets aren't adjusted for reality. They cut the team, expect the same output, and then wonder why morale is in the basement. It’s a classic move to prioritize short-term gains over sustainable growth. Hang in there, but don't feel guilty about setting hard boundaries on your time. You can only pour from an empty cup for so long before something breaks.
