Anyone else feeling the budget squeeze recently?

Hey everyone, I've been at Moody's for a few years now, and lately, I've noticed a definite shift in how things are being handled regarding budgets. Seems like every request, no matter how small, is getting scrutinized way more than usual. Travel is almost impossible unless it's absolutely critical, and even then, it's a whole song and dance. Training budgets are slashed, and even basic office supplies feel like a luxury we need to justify. Is this just my department, or are others seeing this too? Makes you wonder what's going on behind the scenes. Feels like a pre-layoff environment where every penny is being counted. Anyone else experiencing this, and have any insights?

Yeah, I've definitely felt the pinch too, though I'm not at Moody's. It feels like companies across the board are tightening their belts significantly. The days of easy budget approvals seem to be over, and everything requires a stronger business case. Even small expenses are being questioned, which can be frustrating when you're trying to get things done efficiently. It makes you re-evaluate every purchase and consider if it's truly essential for the immediate goals.

Interesting to hear about Moody's. My experience has been similar in my current role, though in a different industry. There's a palpable sense of caution regarding spending, and it seems to be a company-wide directive rather than isolated incidents. What's concerning is when essential resources or development opportunities get cut, as that can impact long-term productivity and employee morale. Hopefully, this is a temporary phase and not a sign of deeper issues.
