Hiring freezes and internal moves?

Been hearing whispers about a slowdown in external hiring, with a preference for internal candidates to fill open roles. Some teams seem to have 'hollowed out' positions that aren't being backfilled, while others are pushing for internal transfers to fill gaps. It's creating a bit of a weird dynamic where people are looking to jump ship internally to more stable teams, or maybe just to get out of departments that seem like they might be on the chopping block. Has anyone else noticed this trend? Or maybe heard any official or unofficial word on hiring freezes or shifts in recruitment strategy? Trying to get a read on the internal job market situation.

I've definitely seen similar things happening. It feels like there's a real push to keep headcount down externally while still trying to address immediate needs internally. It's creating a bit of a paradox – some departments are shrinking, but others are desperately looking for people. Makes you wonder about the long-term strategy and where the real investment is being prioritized. Hope things stabilize soon.

This is spot on. The internal shuffle is pretty intense right now. It's like musical chairs, but with careers. Some folks are landing in seemingly safer spots, while others are stuck in roles that feel increasingly precarious. The lack of transparency about which areas are truly secure is definitely adding to the anxiety. Definitely not the most comfortable environment to be in at the moment.
