Performance review season and the general mood

So, performance review season is upon us, and I gotta say, the vibe feels different this year at Moody's. Last year, even with the economic uncertainty, there was a sense of 'we're in this together.' This year, it feels more... individual. Lots of talk about 'efficiency' and 'streamlining' in the internal comms, which usually precedes some kind of 'restructuring.' My direct reports are asking me about job security, and frankly, I don't have great answers. I'm not seeing a hiring freeze, but I'm also not seeing the usual level of internal movement or new roles being posted. Just trying to gauge the general sentiment here. Is anyone else feeling this heightened sense of pressure or uncertainty heading into reviews?

Yeah, I'm feeling that too. The internal messaging definitely seems to be shifting. Less about collaboration and more about individual output and cost-saving measures. It's creating a lot of anxiety, and frankly, it's hard to keep morale up when you're constantly hearing buzzwords that hint at downsizing. Trying to project confidence for my team, but internally, I'm bracing for impact. Hoping it's just pre-review jitters, but the signals are concerning.

Interesting to hear your take. My department hasn't had those explicit 'efficiency' talks yet, but the pressure to deliver on metrics is definitely higher. It feels like we're being pushed to do more with less, which isn't sustainable long-term. I've also noticed a dip in internal training opportunities, which could be another sign of budget tightening. Just trying to focus on doing good work and hoping for the best, but the unease is palpable across the board.
