Tech roles at MS - what's the vibe?

Was thinking about applying for some tech roles at Morgan Stanley, specifically in areas related to data science or quant dev. Given the recent headlines about slowdowns and potential layoffs in other parts of the bank, I'm wondering if the tech divisions are still actively hiring or if it's become a tougher market there too. Anyone currently working in or interviewing for tech roles at MS have any insights? Is it business as usual, or are things starting to feel uncertain?

Hey there! I've got a few friends in MS tech, and the word is it's still a pretty robust hiring environment, especially for specialized roles like data science and quant dev. While the broader financial industry has seen some belt-tightening, the investment in technology and digital transformation seems to be a priority for them. It's probably wise to check their careers page frequently and tailor your applications, but don't let the general headlines discourage you entirely. The demand for strong technical talent remains high.

From what I've gathered through recent networking, the tech divisions at Morgan Stanley are definitely still active. They seem to be prioritizing strategic hires in areas that drive innovation and efficiency, which aligns with data science and quant development. It's true that some areas of finance are feeling the pinch, but tech often functions a bit differently, with ongoing investment in critical infrastructure and new capabilities. It might be competitive, but opportunities are likely still there if you've got the right skills and experience.
