Feeling the pressure at Moto Solutions – budget cuts or something else?

Been with Motorola Solutions for a bit now, and the vibe feels... off. Not in a 'bad manager' way, more like a general sense of pressure and uncertainty. Heard some chatter about tighter budgets for Q3/Q4, and it seems like discretionary spending is being scrutinized way more than usual. My team's been told to 'optimize resources,' which sounds like corporate speak for 'do more with less,' or worse. Projects that were previously greenlit are now facing extra layers of approval, and there's a definite hush-hush atmosphere when you ask too many questions about future plans. It’s not the outright panic of a confirmed layoff, but it’s definitely putting people on edge. Anyone else picking up on this? Is it just the economic climate affecting tech in general, or is there something specific happening at MSI that we should be aware of? Just looking for some honest perspectives from fellow employees.

I've noticed the same atmosphere. It feels like there's a general tightening across the board, not just budget-wise. Even internal training seems less frequent, and travel budgets are definitely under the microscope. It's making strategic planning a bit more challenging when you're not sure what resources will be available down the line. Hoping it's just a temporary belt-tightening phase.

Yeah, the 'optimize resources' line is definitely getting a workout. My department is feeling it too, with some R&D initiatives being put on hold or significantly scaled back. It's understandable given the economic climate, but it does make you wonder about the long-term investment in innovation. Curious to see if this picks up after the next fiscal cycle.
