MSCI: Performance reviews feeling unusually harsh this cycle?

Okay, so my recent performance review felt… intense. Way more critical feedback than usual, and the bar seemed exceptionally high, even for my role. I've been at MSCI for a few years and generally get solid feedback, but this time felt different. It wasn't just me either; I've chatted with a couple of colleagues in different departments and they've echoed similar sentiments. It feels like there's a much sharper focus on 'performance metrics' and 'controllable costs' this year, which is making me a bit uneasy, especially with the current market climate. Is anyone else experiencing this, or is it just my perception? Curious to hear if others are seeing a shift in how performance is being evaluated and if it's impacting anyone's outlook. Hoping it's just a standard recalibration, but it's hard not to think about the broader implications.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. The emphasis on 'controllable costs' feels particularly amplified. It's like every minor expense is under a microscope now, which can definitely add pressure when you're trying to meet targets. Hopefully, it's a short-term push and not a permanent shift in how things are evaluated.

Definitely not just you. The feedback in my team was also more pointed this cycle. It seems like there's a company-wide push for efficiency, and performance reviews are the tool being used to drive it. It can be a bit demoralizing, especially when you feel like you're already doing a good job.
