M&T Bank - Anyone else feel the pressure building lately?

Lately, there's just been this general sense of unease around the office, and I can't quite put my finger on it. It's not like we've had any official announcements, but the vibe is definitely shifting. Project scopes seem to be shrinking, there's a lot more scrutiny on budgets, and people are just generally more guarded. I've heard a few hushed conversations about 'efficiency' and 'streamlining' which, in my experience, usually precede something unpleasant. Is anyone else picking up on this? Are there specific teams or divisions feeling it more than others? Just looking to see if this is a widespread feeling or if I'm just overthinking things. Trying to stay ahead of the curve here if possible.

I'm with you on this. The atmosphere has felt different for a few months now. It’s not just your imagination. The focus on cost-cutting and tighter controls is palpable. Even small requests seem to require more justification than they used to. I've also noticed a lot more internal emails about optimizing processes, which, as you said, can be a red flag. It's unsettling when you can't pinpoint the cause, but the feeling of impending change is definitely there.

Yeah, I've noticed it too. There's a definite shift in how things are being handled. Budgets are being watched incredibly closely, and any new initiatives are being met with a lot more skepticism. It feels like there's a general tightening of the belt across the board. The buzzwords like 'efficiency' and 'streamlining' are definitely making the rounds in internal communications.
