Hey everyone, curious if anyone at M&T has noticed anything about hiring lately? I've heard through the grapevine that some departments have put a soft hiring freeze in place, or at least things are moving super slow for new requisitions. It's not a full-blown layoff announcement, so I'm trying to get a read on the vibe. Is this just a seasonal slowdown, or are we looking at something more significant down the line, especially with the recent acquisitions? My team's workload hasn't exactly decreased, so it's a bit concerning if we're not backfilling roles. Anyone else hearing similar whispers or experiencing this slowdown directly? Trying to gauge if I should start polishing up the resume proactively, or if this is just standard business fluctuations. Appreciate any insights you can share, trying to stay ahead of the curve.

I haven't heard any official word about a hiring freeze, but things definitely feel a bit tighter than usual. We've had a couple of positions open on my team for months with no traction. It's hard to say if it's just the acquisition settling things in or a broader slowdown. My suspicion is it's a bit of both – they're likely being more cautious with new hires while they integrate the new teams and figure out resource allocation. Keeping fingers crossed it's temporary.

Interesting question. My department hasn't explicitly announced a freeze, but I've definitely noticed a significant slowdown in the approval process for new hires. Requisitions that used to take a couple of weeks are now dragging on for months, and some roles that were opened a while back seem to have gone completely silent. I'm wondering if it's a strategic move to consolidate after the recent acquisitions or if there's a more cautious financial outlook. It's creating some bandwidth issues for sure.
