M&T Bank - Performance Reviews and Future Outlook?

With the recent performance review cycle just wrapping up, I'm curious to hear what others' experiences have been like at M&T. Mine felt... different this year. More emphasis on 'efficiency' and 'streamlining operations,' which sounds like corporate speak for cost-cutting to me. I've been trying to gauge the general mood regarding job security and future opportunities within the bank. Are departments actively hiring, or is it more of a freeze? Have any managers been dropping hints about upcoming organizational changes or restructuring? It feels like a bit of a black box right now, and the lack of clear communication is making people nervous. Any heads-up on what the leadership is signaling, or what departments are being prioritized (or de-prioritized) would be super helpful for anyone trying to plan their next steps. Just trying to understand the landscape.

My experience with the recent performance review at M&T was similar. There was definitely a pronounced focus on efficiency, and while I understand the need to adapt in the current financial climate, it did create a bit of unease. I've been keeping an eye on internal job boards, and it seems like some departments are still posting openings, but it's hard to tell if that's a sign of growth or just standard turnover. I haven't heard any direct mentions of layoffs from my management, but the emphasis on streamlining is a common theme across the board, which naturally leads to questions about long-term stability and future prospects for various roles.
