Anyone else noticing the silence from leadership?

Is it just me, or has the vibe in the office been incredibly tense lately? We’ve seen the usual quarterly briefings, but there’s zero mention of the long-term outlook for our division. Usually, management is all over the place with 'NextEra Way' catchphrases and growth projections, but lately, it’s just crickets. I’ve heard whispers about budget tightening across several departments, and the travel freezes are definitely back in full effect. Every time I see a calendar invite for a 'mandatory sync' that wasn't scheduled on my manager's usual cadence, my heart sinks. Is anyone else feeling like the other shoe is about to drop, or am I just reading too much into the current headcount management strategies? Would love to know if other departments are seeing similar freezes or if your leads are actually being transparent. At this point, I’m just trying to figure out if I should start dusting off the resume or if I’m just being paranoid.

The silence is definitely deafening. It feels like we are bracing for something, but nobody will name it. Those 'NextEra Way' emails always felt a bit performative, but at least they provided a sense of direction. Now, the lack of transparency is fueling way more anxiety than a straightforward announcement ever could. The travel freeze is just the latest indicator that leadership is hunkering down. If they are tightening the belt this hard, I really hope we get a clear explanation before the rumors spiral any further.

Honestly, I stopped checking the internal updates weeks ago. When you see the budget tightening and those sudden freezes, the company line doesn't matter much anymore. It’s the same pattern every time things get lean—management goes dark to avoid answering the tough questions about division viability. If your department is feeling the tension, you’re not imagining it. The 'vibe' is pretty much a reflection of the lack of confidence coming from the top. Just keep your head down and keep your options open.
