Thinking about career stability outside of NextEra

Been with NextEra for a while and honestly, while the work is okay, the underlying feeling of 'what if' is starting to get to me. No official news, but the market feels unpredictable, and even in utilities, nothing feels completely recession-proof anymore. I'm starting to look at other companies and industries, just to get a sense of what's out there and if my skills are transferable. Has anyone else been doing this? It's not about actively looking to leave tomorrow, but more about building a mental safety net and exploring options. Any advice on transferable skills or companies known for stability would be appreciated. Feels like good time to have a backup plan, even if it's just a plan.

I totally get what you're saying about the 'what if' feeling. Even though utilities are generally stable, the energy sector is undergoing massive shifts with renewables and grid modernization. It’s smart to explore your options and see where your skills might be most valuable. It doesn't hurt to have a pulse on the broader job market and build a network, just for peace of mind. I've been casually browsing too, mostly out of curiosity about industry trends and growth areas outside of traditional power generation.
