The silence from upper management is deafening, and we all know that’s usually a bad sign in this industry. I’ve seen the same pattern before: they keep the budget talk vague right up until the day they announce the cuts. Honestly, if you’re already updating your resume, you’re ahead of the curve. It’s better to be looking for a new role while you’re still employed than waiting for the ax to fall. The regional pivots lately haven't exactly inspired confidence in their long-term strategy anyway.
I wouldn't panic just yet. Every year around this time, the rumor mill starts churning with talk of layoffs, but it’s often just noise born from end-of-quarter stress. While the guidance shifts are annoying, they don't always translate into structural changes. That said, keeping your profile updated is just good practice regardless of the company's health. I’d advise keeping your head down and focusing on your deliverables until we actually hear something concrete from leadership rather than chasing gossip from the breakroom.
