Anyone else blindsided by the Amherst reduction?

I’ve been at Nordson for over six years and honestly, the morale here has been tanking for a while, but this recent WARN notice for December 6th hits different. We all knew the quarterly numbers were softening, but seeing 114 heads on the chopping block in Amherst/Lorain is a massive gut punch. The management communication has been practically non-existent—just the usual corporate fluff about 'optimizing our manufacturing footprint.' If you ask me, it’s just pure cost-cutting to make the balance sheet look pretty for the shareholders before the fiscal year wraps up. I’m sitting here looking at my calendar wondering if I’m next or if my department is safe. To those who got the notice today, I’m truly sorry. Does anyone have any actual intel on whether this is a one-off or if they’re planning another wave in Q1? I’m already polishing my resume because the vibes in the office are absolutely miserable right now.

Six years is a long time to give to a company only to be treated like a rounding error on a spreadsheet. It’s always the same story: leadership misses their targets and chooses to balance the books by sacrificing the people on the floor rather than addressing the actual operational inefficiencies. That 'optimizing' buzzword is just a thin veil for poor management failing to pivot correctly. It’s a total failure of culture when folks don't even get a transparent explanation for why their livelihoods are being stripped away overnight. Hang in there.
