It is honestly sickening that leadership chose to drop this right before the holidays. I’ve heard from folks in the Amherst office that the layoffs are hitting corporate roles as well, not just manufacturing. They’ve been trimming middle management for months now, and the lack of transparency is fueling the toxic environment you’re describing. If you’re in an admin or support role, don't assume you're safe just because you aren't on the shop floor. Start updating your resume today, because it feels like they are just looking to slash the total headcount regardless of department.
I am so sorry you are going through this. The timing is absolutely brutal, but unfortunately, it sounds like the standard playbook they have been running all year. From what I’ve gathered, these cuts are definitely bleeding into corporate support functions, including HR and finance roles. When the culture shifts to everyone watching their inbox for bad news, it is impossible to be productive. Please look out for yourself and your mental health right now. No company is worth this level of stress, especially when they clearly do not prioritize the people who have been keeping them profitable for years.
