The irony of the leadership team preaching 'Partners' culture while constantly trimming headcount is palpable. It’s hard to stay engaged when the only thing consistent about the quarterly updates is the eventual disappearance of colleagues. When they emphasize efficiency over stability, they are telling us exactly where we rank in their priorities. It feels like the firm has lost its way, trading long-term institutional knowledge for short-term balance sheet optics that look better in a slide deck. We aren't just line items, but that's certainly how we're being managed lately.
I've stopped listening to the all-hands calls entirely. It’s all corporate jargon designed to sound reassuring while the actual work environment becomes increasingly toxic and unstable. I watched my entire team get reshuffled last year under the guise of 'streamlining operations,' and the reality was just more burnout for the remaining staff. If they think these cuts won't eventually impact the quality of our client service, they are delusional. Loyalty is a two-way street, and it’s been pretty clear for a while that the firm decided to pave over that path long ago.
