Northern Trust: Anyone else seeing a hiring chill?

Hey everyone, been at NT for a couple of years now and things have felt...different lately. Heard some whispers about hiring freezes or at least a serious slowdown across a few departments. My manager is being super cagey about it, just saying we need to 'prioritize essential roles.' Has anyone else experienced this? Are you seeing fewer open requisitions, or has your team lost headcount and not been backfilled? Just trying to get a sense of the broader picture here, since there's no official word. Trying not to panic, but the vibe is definitely shifting.

Yeah, I've definitely noticed a shift. Been seeing a lot more internal transfers happening, and roles that would normally be posted externally seem to be on hold. The 'essential roles' line is a common one I'm hearing too. It feels like they're being very strategic about every single hire, if they're hiring at all. My team hasn't lost anyone yet, but there's a general feeling of uncertainty about future growth.

Interesting to hear this from you. I'm in a different division, but the vibe is similar. Fewer new projects getting greenlit and a general sense of caution. We had a couple of open roles that were supposed to be filled next quarter, but they've been indefinitely postponed. Management is chalking it up to 'market recalibration,' but it definitely feels like a hiring slowdown. Hope it picks back up soon.
