NT: Performance reviews and looming budget cuts?

So, my performance review just wrapped up and it felt... different. More emphasis on cost savings and efficiency, less on growth and development than usual. My manager was vague about future projects and seemed a bit stressed. This, combined with whispers about budget reviews happening across the board, is making me nervous. Is anyone else in a similar boat? Feels like the company is tightening its belt, and while they haven't said anything about layoffs, it's hard not to connect the dots. Trying to get a sense of the overall mood and whether this is a company-wide trend or just my department. If it's the latter, I'm less worried, but if it's the former... well, time to dust off the resume, I guess. Anyone have a read on the financial health or strategic direction that might explain this?

Yeah, I've been feeling that too. My review was definitely more focused on the bottom line than personal development. It's understandable with the current economic climate, I suppose. But the lack of clarity on future initiatives is unsettling. Makes it hard to plan your own career path when you're unsure what the company's priorities will even be in a few months.
