Company-wide 'optimization' talk feels like a bad omen

Hey all, been with NG for a few years now and things have been pretty steady. However, lately, there's been a lot of chatter about 'efficiency drives' and 'strategic realignments' across different divisions. Management keeps using these buzzwords, and while they're not explicitly saying layoffs, it sure feels like the prelude to one. Anyone else picking up on this vibe? My manager is being cagey when I ask about team stability, just repeating the corporate lines about adapting to the market. It's making me super anxious, especially with how volatile the industry can be. I've started updating my resume and quietly networking, just in case. Curious to hear if others are feeling the same unease or if it's just my department being a bit dramatic. Stay safe out there.

I'm feeling the exact same way. It's the vagueness that's unnerving. Every department seems to be going through some kind of review, and the language used is always so corporate and detached. It's hard not to connect 'optimization' with cuts, especially when there's no clear explanation of *what* is being optimized and *why* beyond general market shifts. Hoping for the best, but bracing for potential changes.

Totally get where you're coming from. I've heard similar things whispered around my team. They keep talking about 'streamlining processes' and 'synergies,' which sounds great on paper, but often translates to fewer people doing more work. The lack of transparency is definitely fueling the anxiety. My advice? Start updating that resume just in case, but try not to let the speculation consume you day-to-day.
