So, performance review season is upon us again, and honestly, it just feels like another exercise in anxiety. The pressure to 'exceed expectations' feels heavier than ever, especially with the current economic climate and all the vague talk about efficiency. I've been putting in the extra hours, trying to hit all my metrics, but you can't help but wonder if it even matters in the grand scheme of things. Managers seem stressed, and you can feel the tension in meetings. It’s hard to stay motivated when you suspect that your hard work might not even guarantee job security. Is anyone else feeling this way? It's like walking on eggshells waiting for the other shoe to drop, and it’s exhausting.

Yeah, I feel this. The 'exceed expectations' treadmill is relentless, and when combined with the general uncertainty, it's a recipe for burnout. It’s like we're all just running faster and faster on a hamster wheel, hoping management notices. The constant need to quantify everything and the pressure to justify our existence feels exhausting. I’ve started to just focus on doing my job well and not overthinking the ‘exceeding’ part too much. It’s the only way to maintain some sanity. Hopefully, it’s over soon.
